Then will the eyes of the blind be opened(A)
    and the ears of the deaf(B) unstopped.
Then will the lame(C) leap like a deer,(D)
    and the mute tongue(E) shout for joy.(F)
Water will gush forth in the wilderness
    and streams(G) in the desert.
The burning sand will become a pool,
    the thirsty ground(H) bubbling springs.(I)
In the haunts where jackals(J) once lay,
    grass and reeds(K) and papyrus will grow.

And a highway(L) will be there;
    it will be called the Way of Holiness;(M)
    it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean(N) will not journey on it;
    wicked fools will not go about on it.

But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship,(A) do the work of an evangelist,(B) discharge all the duties of your ministry.

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering,(C) and the time for my departure is near.(D) I have fought the good fight,(E) I have finished the race,(F) I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me(G) the crown of righteousness,(H) which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day(I)—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.(J)

Do your best to come to me quickly,(K) 10 for Demas,(L) because he loved this world,(M) has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica.(N) Crescens has gone to Galatia,(O) and Titus(P) to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke(Q) is with me.(R) Get Mark(S) and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry. 12 I sent Tychicus(T) to Ephesus.(U) 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas,(V) and my scrolls, especially the parchments.

14 Alexander(W) the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done.(X) 15 You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message.

16 At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.(Y) 17 But the Lord stood at my side(Z) and gave me strength,(AA) so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.(AB) And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.(AC) 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack(AD) and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom.(AE) To him be glory for ever and ever. Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-Two(A)(B)(C)

10 After this the Lord(D) appointed seventy-two[a] others(E) and sent them two by two(F) ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.(G) He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.(H) Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.(I) Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

“When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages.(J) Do not move around from house to house.

“When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you.(K) Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God(L) has come near to you.’
